Project Title: Construction of the Prestigious North Queensland Cowboys Stadium

Project Scope: To Manufacture, Supply and Install iH2O Pre-Insulated Pipework in the Central Energy Plant plus Chilled Water Field Reticulation throughout the 5 Levels of the Stadium

Primary Contractor:   Watpac

Client Name:  AE Smith

Location: South Townsville, Queensland

APS Contract Value: $1.25 million

Description of the Job (problems we solved): APS worked closely with AE Smith’s Project Team in the safe installation and commissioning of the HVAC piping infrastructure across the whole lifecycle of the construction of the Cowboys Stadium. This project ran for a duration of 12 months from start to finish for the complete HVAC pipework to be installed and tested. APS solved many problems for our client on this project relating to services clash detection, piping aesthetics, and assisting with the seismic structural support system. The solutions APS provided include remodeling the piping system in the Central Energy Plant room, to accommodate the chiller, pump & chilled water storage tank plant selections. APS also worked with AE Smith on the services coordination clash detection in the Central Energy Plant as well as other sections of pipework across the stadium. APS provided a TICA-approved conceptual design (certified by the client) for the pipe wall penetrations, for the seismic structural support system. Aesthetics of this building was a high priority and in order to ‘blend’ the pipework into the design and finish of the structure, APS worked with the client to colour-coordinate the external casing of the pipework in different sections of the building, where the services pipework was exposed.
